Chief Executive Officer with Wirral Mencap


We are seeking a highly driven and dynamic charity professional to lead a well-established local organisation that exists to advance equality for people with a learning disability.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who has prior leadership/ management experience and sound financial management capability.

The successful post holder will be responsible for delivering the organisation’s strategic plan and ensuring that Wirral Mencap has the funding and profile to be successful in the present climate.

You must have the requisite skills to effectively run a small charity as well as the passion and energy to inspire and affect change externally. An important aspect of the role will be to influence local policy and practice for the wider benefit of people with a learning disability.

About Wirral Mencap:

We are a small, successful charity affiliated to National Mencap but completely independent both financially and in our governance. We provide support and opportunities that enhance the lives of people with a learning disability and their families living in Wirral.

We pride ourselves on the impact we have locally, supporting over 350 individuals and families despite a paid workforce of just 6.4 FTE. This is testament to a highly motivated and committed workforce of staff, volunteers and Trustees and our high level of engagement with the local community.
