New ID checking guidelines were introduced on 24 October 2017. These guidelines will apply to all applications for standard or enhanced checks.
You’ll need to make changes to relevant literature and inform your customers. Therefore, please start using the new guidance from 24 October 2017, with 3 months to transition fully to the new guidance.
The enhancement is being introduced so that DBS’s identity checking process is aligned with right to work checks. These state that employers must prevent illegal working in the UK by carrying out document checks on people before employing them to make sure they are allowed to work.
