Clore Social Leadership has launched a free practical guide to board leadership in the social sector called Board leadership: A practical guide for the social sector. The move coincides with this year’s Trustees’ Week, an annual event taking place across the UK from 13 – 17 November that showcases the work of trustees, and highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.
Under this scheme, we look to award grants to projects that provide or improve biodiversity, community spaces, and places for outdoor recreation.
You may have a building that needs improvement in order to increase the range of services on offer to the local community. You could have a site-based project that is working to protect and enhance a species or habitat. Or maybe it’s an open space such as a park, play area or woodland that needs transforming to benefit local people of all ages. In a nutshell, we want to make sure that everyone has access to high quality local community facilities.
Our Community Grants programme offers grants usually of between £5,000 and £25,000 towards the cost of projects introducing facilities (kitchens and accessible toilets) to enable increased community use of places of worship.
The aim of the Fund is to develop and expand our evidence and insight into the effectiveness of scalable learning delivery methods that make learning more attractive and easier to access for adults. This evidence will be used to develop future Government policy and will provide examples of best practice that can be drawn upon by the adult learning sector.
Salary Range: £18,000 pro rata per annum
Working hours: Part time 3 days/ 21 hours week for 6 months fixed term

The Community Foundations for Lancashire & Merseyside (CFLM) is an independent charity which promotes local giving to address local disadvantage.
The handbook offers essential advice, information and support for Charity Treasurers in all aspects of their role. There are many guides to charity finance but Treasurers need not only accounting knowledge but also the skill and competency to work well with others and to ensure that other trustees are enabled to fulfil their own responsibilities for finance. This handbook is particularly helpful with the ‘softer’ aspects of the role.
