The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force from 25th May 2018, superseding the Data Protection Act 1998. This change introduces a new era of data protection and privacy in the modern world and includes the ability of the Information Commissioner to fine charities and social enterprises up to 4% of total turnover for failing to comply with the legislation.
Central to the Regulation is the idea of privacy being a fundamental right, along with radical changes in the way organisations are required to collect and manage their data with new emphasis placed on organisations to demonstrate ongoing compliance, resulting in increased accountability. This affects everything from Citizen’s Data, Evaluation Systems, HR Records and Fundraising Procedures.
To help ensure voluntary, community and social enterprises avoid significant financial penalties and provide commissioners with confidence with their data protection policy and procedures, Capacity has assembled a panel of experts to talk about the requirements for GDPR compliance. Come along to our informative, engaging and interactive awareness event and find out what you need to know to make sure your organization is fully prepared, along with useful tips and help on where to find extra support.
